SW Engineer– Cognos BI Trunk Services
Job description
Cognos Quality Engineering Group is looking Software Engineers with a passion for solving testing and quality engineering challenges.We develop, test, and support various systems, working with leading-edge technologies, parallel computing, virtualization, networking and test automation.Software engineering tasks associated with this role could also include code writing, porting, testing and debugging, technical customer assistance, and Systems administration.Ideal candidate should have strong communication skills (English), analytical, and preferably various programming skills and experience with IBM Cognos Business intelligence products.
Main Responsibilities include:
Development of test specifications for various software components
Debug and maintenance of various IBM Cognos BI Products and Test Automation environments
Automation test and build Framework development
Functional Verification scripting, regression optimization, test monitoring & real-time test failures troubleshooting
Test integration and significant involvement in general defect resolution and testing backlog reduction
Participation in the formal development and support life cycle of Business Analytics
Mandatory Skills and Experience
Experience with Java programming language
Experience with Windows and UNIX operating systems
Knowledge of the software development cycle and methodologies
Experience with Database Management Systems
Experience with software engineering and test automation
High Interest and aptitude for software testing
Enthusiasm, self-motivation and ability to seek out answers and work independently
Strong verbal and technical writing skills (English )
Independent self starter, positive work attitude and highly motivated
Master degree in Computer science or equivalent.
Desirable Skills and Experience
UI automation tools like Selenium, RFT, QTP.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years experience with various Programming Languages: JAVA, J2EE, SQL, XML, ASP, etc
At least 3 years experience with various DBs: IBM DB2, Informix IDS, Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server, SAP BW, Sybase, Teradata
At least 3 years experience with different OSs: Windows Servers 64-bit and UNIX (e.g. AIX, Solaris, Linux)
